Abby Blomer, LMHCA

I’m a licensed therapist who specializes in supporting individuals maneuver through chronic illness and disability, interpersonal violence, and sexual or intimacy concerns. My work centers on somatic-focused care, sex therapy interventions and sensate focus, attachment modalities, and art therapy interventions. This means I focus on using the connection between the mind and body to help individuals understand their body-focused cues and use them to make meaningful changes in their day-to-day.

Many individuals I collaborate with experience heightened physical activation in their bodies, often correlating with heightened emotional activation, causing difficulty being present in daily life. You may notice worsened symptoms surrounding traumatic reminders, an uptick in stress surrounding management of day-to-day symptoms, and difficulty connecting meaningfully with the people around you. Collaboratively, we work to recognize patterns that produce heightened distress and provide practical tools to navigate these scenarios while attuning to the individual goals and experiences you have.

My approach stands apart from others as the modalities I implement incorporate both an understanding of bodily processes and cues while also seeking to reduce distress and increase feelings of control during these experiences. I aim to build a strong relationship with my clients so you can show up honestly and without fear of judgment. Clients often share that it feels like they are able to share openly with me and feel they can better understand themselves through this process. My goal is to support you in moving towards living a life that feels right to you, however that looks.
