Colby, Masters Intern
Colby is currently enrolled in the Mental Health Counseling and Counseling Education program at Indiana University Bloomington. He earned a bachelor's in psychology and sociology from Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. He grew up in Southern Appalachia where therapy is reserved for "rich folk." He hopes to offer services to anyone who is in need, no matter their financial situation. Colby believes that mental health is just as important as physical health, yet it is a privilege that very few are able to obtain. He has been taught that meeting the client where they are is the best course of action when beginning the therapeutic relationship. He plans to meet all of his clients at their own starting points.
Colby hopes to specialize in sex therapy and open his own practice. Colby’s other interests are in couples and marriage counseling, queer identities, anxiety, grief, and trauma.
Colby shares, “in my personal life, I enjoy water sports like wake boarding or water skiing, reading, looking at art (not making it), and card games.”
